“The Trinity in the Old Testament”

Helpful definitions:
Doctrine – Summary statements of biblical truth synthesized from the totality of relevant biblical data.
Monotheism – The belief that there is only one God.
Trinitarian Monotheism – Yahweh, the one true God who reveals himself in the Holy Bible, eternally exists as three distinct, equal, fully divine persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – and these three persons perfectly and indivisibly share one divine being. Thus, Yahweh is one God in three persons, a Holy Trinity.
Progressive revelation – The Bible is a book revealed over time, with God disclosing new information and expanding on older information as he revealed it.
Yahweh’s Unity: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.” (Deut 6:4)
Yahweh’s Plurality: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (Matt 28:19)
Hints of the Trinity in Genesis 1:
1. The name of God is in the plural case.
2. The presence of the Spirit and the Word.
3. God says, “Let us make man…”
