“The Narrow Door”
Luke 13:22-30

A concise definition of Jesus’ mission: Jesus’ earthly mission is to rescue lost, sinful men and women who are on their way to an eternal Hell by securing forgiveness through his own substitutionary death and resurrection. By faith in Christ’s perfect and finished work, a person who deserves judgment is gifted perfect reconciliation with God, credited with Christ’s own righteousness, adopted into his family, and given eternal life with him in Heaven.

Point 1: Don’t worry about the numbers; worry about your  need.

Point 2: There is one way through one door.

Point 3: Don’t base your assurance on assumptions.

Point 4: Strive to enter, not to earn.

Conclusion: Who gets in the narrow door? Only a helpless sinner who has cast themselves wholly on the grace of Jesus Christ. Whoever enters the narrow door has believed in their heart and confessed with their mouth that Christ is their Lord, renouncing all self-righteousness and personal merit. The narrow door admits those who have nothing to offer, everything to receive, and who trust wholly in grace.
