“Defining Our Terms Pt. 1”
Romans 4:1-8; Hebrews 9:11-14; Romans 8:13; Ephesians 3:14-16; Romans 8:18-23
Justification – Through my faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God declares me to be totally forgiven of all my sins and he bestows upon me the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
Sanctification – Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God progressively transforms me into the likeness of Jesus.
Mortification – I intentionally and progressively subdue my sinful nature through self-denial and discipline.
Vivification – The Holy Spirit aids me in my Christian life by granting me faith and the spiritual power I need to live a righteous and godly life.
Glorification – At the end of my journey, God will welcome me into his glorious presence for all eternity and I will be never again be under the influence of sin, death, or the devil.
