“Final Greetings Pt 2”
1 Corinthians 16:21-24
Pseudepigrapha – Meaning “written in the name of.” Refers to texts circulating in the early church that falsely claimed to have been written by Apostles.
How did Paul combat forged letters? He verified his letters with his handwriting (2 Thess 3:17).
Point 1: Frauds abound, so cling to the Scriptures.
Examples of fraudulent scriptures:
The Apocrypha – Additions to the Old Testament that were neither accepted by the Jews nor cited by Jesus. Found in
Catholic and Orthodox Bibles.
The Gnostic Gospels – False books written by early church cults that fraudulently used the name of the Apostles to
establish credibility.
The Book of Mormon – A false revelation written in the 1800s that purports to correct the New Testament.
Point 2: Only God’s book is God-breathed.
